Re: The Mutation from Man to Machine...

Alright... now you're talking - 24 reps at 160# is going to be effective.

Keep it up, and you'll be at a 1RM of 315# in no time.

I make my own program usually, with a Hybrid'ish twist. I do the CFHQ workouts too. I like to do a lot of heavy lifting, in particular squats these days... , and just make up my own stuff that's catered more towards strength and power.

I do the HQ WOD's quite a bit though, especially if it's a nasty Metcon, because most of my WOD's don't last much over 15 minutes or so.

I'm constantly brainstorming new WOD's, Doing other people's WOD's that I get from here, taking from the HQ site, mixing and matching, etc...

I like to go back on the HQ site and make up past WOD's... Like today I did "The Chief" and I will be doing "Fran" here shortly. But I like to put a lot of strength work in, more so than most people.

Re: The Mutation from Man to Machine...

9/16/8

Strict Shoulder Press 5x3

10 @ 40# Warm-Up

3 @ 110#
3 @ 130#
3 @ 140#
3 @ 145# (slight knee bends)
3 @ 150# (with slight pushes)

The 150's were heavy today. I have a previous 1RM of 155#, but I have been neglecting the Presses lately... I'm going to show them more attention and work a few higher reps, lower weights in here soon.

Then,

Warm-Up
3 Rounds (Untimed)
5 - 25# Weighted Pull-Ups
15 - Unanchored Abmat Sit-Ups

Then,

WOD:
"The Chief"
Max Rounds in 3 Minutes of:
3 - 135# Power Cleans
6 - Push-Ups
9 - Squats
Rest 1 min. Then repeat for a total of 5 Cycles. (20 min. WOD)

Cycle #1 = 4 Rds. + 3 PC's + 6 pu's + 5 squats (so ****ing close to 5 Rds... Damn it! )
Cycle #2 = 3 Rds.
Cycle #3 = 4 Rds.
Cycle #4 = 3 Rds.
Cycle #5 = 3 Rds. + 3 PC's + 3 pu's

I was pretty happy with this WOD. I thought I gave it a great effort and it definitely gassed me. This is one of the first WOD's in quite a while that I had to lie down afterward. It almost instantly gave me a minor headache and my legs were ****ing French Toast by the middle of the third round... But I pressed on, nonetheless...

Good day...

Excellent work on The Chief, David!

It looks like a totally insane WOD.

Fran is always difficult, especially because I have no where to kip, so "Deadhang Fran's" are even worse...

"The Chief" was just something new for me and I haven't done a WOD like that in a long time, so it just smoked me.

the chief sounds so easy on paper, but then you feel like your legs are about to blow out..
