290 lb Clean and Jerk

4 lb PR. Missed this lift on my 3rd attempt Clean and Jerk at a weightlifting meet on Sunday.

Feedback is welcome.

Re: 290 lb Clean and Jerk

Surprised that is a PR. It didn't look like you struggled for it. Especially since that bar crashed on you and pinned you down. Keep that bar close and meet it. I expect you are way too strong to have to catch 290 rock bottom.

Now stop screwing around and get 300

Re: 290 lb Clean and Jerk

Clearly the clean isn't your weak link. I actually thought your starting position wasn't ideal, didn't look like you had your posterior chain loaded as much as you could have, but you got into pretty quick, maybe your method is just more different than I'm use to seeing. I couldn't tell if it pinned you down, or if you were just resting b/c it was so easy.

I thought your jerk form was very good; it sure looks like you have more in you, but it didn't look easy. Just keep working hard!

Re: 290 lb Clean and Jerk

Get taller on the 2nd pull - hard to tell at full speed - but looks like you had quite a bit more room to extend and that you're whipping your head and shoulders back before the hips are fired. Here's the best grab I could get of it: (wfs)

On the jerk, you waited a long time before firing off, that's wasted energy.

Also, recover front foot first and then bring the back foot up to meet it.

Solid lift though, you're moving some serious weight
