York bar...anyone experience this

I was doing reps of clean and jerks last night with 205lbs with a york olympic training bar when I thought I tweaked my shoulder during the lift. Only to see the bar's sleeve broke where the plates rest against it.
I bought this bar less than 30 days from york as a refurb bar, thought it would last a lifetime but only lasted maybe a dozen light workouts.
I contacted york and they said they don't warranty refurbs and said it looks like a weld broke....It seems like a serious problem to have a bar fail where it did and is probably a wide spread issue. They did say they would trade it out for another refurb if they had one but I would have to pay shipping....so I am waiting to hear back from them.
So here I am waiting to see if I threw my money away by buying a York bar.

Has any one had this problem while lifting? look at the pic

I have the same bar. It has not yet broken, but I am disappointed with it and do not like the fact that it only weighs 40 lbs and not 45 lbs as stated. I will not be buying from York again.

Re: York bar...anyone experience this

Just spoke with York again and there are shipping me another refurb bar...hopefully it last a lot longer than 30 days. Overall they were pretty quick and I should have the bar soon.
