My female room mate asked me what exercises she could do to make her butt bigger. I was not sure how to answer!

I was thinking deep squats and deadlifts for more muscle in the rear region, but I'm not sure if this actually adds size.

Any help would be appreciated!

Another thing that seems to work is Capoeira. I don't know if it was the exercise or the association with Brazilians that did it, but it definitely works.

Deep Squats, deadlifts, rear lunges, glute/ham raises. Yes well developed glute muscles make the butt bigger and nicer.

Thanks for the input guys and gal. There is no way I'll get this girl to do CF, moving away from the cardio machines will be tough enough :D.

We thinking 3-5 sets of around 12 reps for the squats, lunges, etc?

This might be too picky, but to increase size I think higher weight and lower reps will help do that more. If she is a training novice, then sets with 12 reps will do to help her with form/technique, but I think the plan should be to eventually decrease the reps and increase the weight.

Of course you can get her to do crossfit. Just have her do it CF style...the 400m run/GHD back extension workout would be good. You can also do tabata squats, have her do a wallball workout or a thruster workout. You can feed her bits and pieces of CF without her knowing it.

Well, if she's asking you the question, but isn't willing to do what you say, then tell her "why am I wasting my time if you're not going to listen to what I know works?"

But on a hopeful note, get her into speedskating. Have you ever seen Allison Baver's friggin' huge booty in person? First time I ever saw her (or most of the national level skaters) was at a nationals, and seriously, I wasn't even looking, but just watching people skate I see out of the corner of my eye like "crap that's a big butt". It just kinda happens from sitting in the low skating position for *ever*, and the glutes are what really give you power in the skating push.
