Here's a couple that are multifunctional.

We use these in schools with smaller budgets quite often.

Re: squat stand-bench press

Frank,
Thanks very much for the advice .
I am looking for the most space efficient piece as my about to open studio is 500 square foot.
Can you give me a heads up on the best cost friendly bumper plates?

Re: squat stand-bench press

With a small space, you should go for portable squat stands. They are adjustable and should go low enough to use with a bench.
Use the search function on the board for portable squat stands, theres a great thread that covers several stands and where they were purchased. E bay and craigslist are usually a good way to go.
As far as bumpers, I believe Wright Rubber is selling them at $1.10 per pund.

Re: squat stand-bench press

York makes a pretty decent squat stand that will double for a bench press station (minus the bench). Not sure if you can get one of these in the US or not, however. We have 6 of them in our gym and for the price can not complain (about $200CAD). It is called the "York Pro Series 204 Barbell Support" (part number 4232).

See it on page 20 (39) here:

Hope this helps.

It appears from all the posts that Wright bumpers are the way to go.
I've known the guys at Wright for years.....good folks.

Re: squat stand-bench press

I don't think you would want these for a professional studio but I just built some squat/bench stands for myself.

Thread bump. All I can say is damn! I like this. I was planning to use a 4x4, 6x6 or something like that with bolts as notches as I've seen in other models. But I like this design better.

Bobbi, how much have you been able to put on those stands?
