Affiliate naming rules inconsistent?

I'm approved but my name isn't. "CrossFit Newburgh". Because it's a city name which I understand but what I don't get is why can I think of 6 other boxes with town names, one of which opened a month ago, but other people are being denied for them.

Now I'm scrambling to think of other names that are kind of the town name but not. CrossFit NBNY? Hope that's ok. Any other ideas?

I am thinking your name was denied because there is already a Newburgh CrossFit (or at least it looks like there was at some point, according to a Facebook page), which is too similar.

Re: Affiliate naming rules inconsistent?

I'm not too keen on CrossFit NBNY. There isn't an acronym-type pronunciation for those letters.

What is the area known for?

Revolutionary War? Then name your gym CrossFit Revolution and include a revolutionary soldier in your logo.

Maybe name it for your county? Orange County CrossFit... that might be taken by somebody in California.

I recommend using something in your name that identifies you with the area. A county name might encourage clients to come in from further distances.

My wife affiliated a gym in Madison, Indiana. "CrossFit Madison" was taken by a gym in Madison, Wisconsin. They settled on Mad City CrossFit.

Think how easily fdny or nypd flows. A lot of people in the area know and say NBNY so I think it's a good choice. There's also a CrossFit orange 20 miles away.

What is the area known for? Lol crime. Lots of history here though. Wfs http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newbu...ity),_New_York

Then it's settled. CrossFit Criminal shall be the new name.

If NBNY is commonly known, then that's not a bad choice.

Hahah oh man. Very tough choice choosing a name. I'm honestly happy with NBNY so I really hope it goes through. Based on their requirements do you guys think it will?
