Cool Birth Mark Removal/ How Long Till I can Swim?

Hey all, I'm going to be having a birth mark removed from the side of my head. This is going to be happening during swim team, so I am wondering how long I will have to wait till I can get back in the water. I wouldn't mind being out 4-5 weeks as I can do Starting Strength, however I'm hoping I won't be out longer than that. What are your guys predictions. Thanks.

Ask your doctor.

He'll probably say wait until the incision heals to the point where it can get wet.

The typical waiting time for superficial surgical procedures is 24-48 hours until you can shower, two weeks until you can swim in a public pool, and 3 weeks until you can take a bath or swim in a private (home) pool.

The best advice would be to ask your surgeon directly since s/he might recommend different (perhaps shorter) waiting times.

Why in the world would you be asking people on this forum instead of the doctor who will be doing the procedure? I mean, really, if some unknown person were to give you advice, would you really blindly follow it? At the very least, search google. The information is out there.

I'm looking for a ballpark answer, nothing serious, so I can see when to schedule the procedure. I haven't talked to the surgeon yet, I just know the surgery has to occur within a couple of months and am looking for a general timeline for recovery. Thanks.

Call the surgeon and talk to one of his nurses. They see this stuff every day and would give you a pretty good ballpark.
