Re: 50 Burpee Challenge

Not to be a stickler but where's the overhead clap?

Serious work tho. I'll see if I can't hit 50 before a shake-out on day 100 of our burpee challenge here when we race the last 100. (Day 74 today w00t)

I've never seen it done like that. I have noticed that I stay a little hunched on the jump portion though. I'm gonna give this way a try next time.

Also Justin, jump forward with your feet all the way to in between your hands then jump up with your feet flat on the ground. Good hip extension though!

Re: 50 Burpee Challenge

Yeah, you're losing a lot of the suckedness of the burpee without the overhead clap.

And who wants burpees to suck less than they're supposed to?

I remember the 100 day burpee challenge. I did it solo, was insanely hard but has made me a better crossfiter because it taught me to really push myself. Days 1-50 were done without breaks. By day 74 my legs were so tired that I only got like 15 in a row from the start. On day 100, I played through the pain in the legs and knocked out 60 in a row, then sets of 20 to finish up. Was a good time (crossfit kind of good).

And yes, the hand clap, or at least a touch to the sky, adds to the horribleness of burpees...but it makes them so much more sadistically fun!

Re: 50 Burpee Challenge

We are on day 77 here for our 100 day burpees, and I find that by doing the clap, fully overhead, arms straight, ears visible in front of arms, that my shoulders don't get as tight and messed up. If I short the clap for a few days (arms bent, token "overhead" clap) my shoulder feel like they take more of a beating.

Might be something to it, or maybe it's a coincidence. Maybe I clap all the way overhead on days my shoulders feel good, instead of them feeling good because of the clap. who knows...

Re: 50 Burpee Challenge

When you partake in the 100 Burpee challenge, what kind of training do you do? The normal WOD after the burpees? I would suspect that after day 50, overtraining could be an issue.

Re: 50 Burpee Challenge

Business as usual. Just break them up into small sets throughout the day. Just use your best judgment and listen to your body. I took a full day off in the late 60s and then had to catch up the next day, but a complete rest day sure did the trick.

Huh. I was under the impression that the idea was to do all the burpees in one "session". Maybe not all in a row, but all in one concerted effort.
