There is nothing wrong with doing this every once in a while but it would not be a good strength program. Typically, if you're benching heavy, it should be the last lift f the day and should only be done once a week or so. After the DL, bench press takes the body the longest time to recover from. If you're lifting 3 days a week, try to press twice and bench once.

when my bench goes up so does my press & vice versa. the movements aren't that much different on the system. what i do is 1 day a week is my bench day & the 2nd workout is my strict press or push press day.

but i usually will do DB presses at a light weight as an assistance movement on my bench days & dips as an assistance movement on my press days.
