Help me pick between three power bars

Awhile ago I posted about the Rogue bar but I don't want that anymore since I only do power lifting movements.

Jesup Gym OPB86M 7' Olympic Power Bar

7' Capp "Texas" Power Bar

Midwest Squat bar

I want something coated which all of these are (confirmation by a worker at BSO who says the Midwest bar is coated now) and something with a center knurling.

I'm having a very hard time picking out which one I should get. The Midwest Squat bar is 30mm whereas my current bar is 28.5ish so I don't know how that will affect anything. The others are around 28mm. I'm leaning toward the Capp Texas Power bar at the moment.

Re: Help me pick between three power bars

Thought the Texas Power Bar was made by Troy but I may be wrong.

Jessup is a good supplier with good prices, I have ordered weight and olympic dumbbells from them. They were manufactured by Capp. The Jessup part number looks like a Capp part number, may want to make sure you are not looking at the same product for two different prices.

Also may want to check out elitefts.com (WFS) they sell a Texas Power Bar, Texas Squat Bar (8ft), Texas Deadlift Bar (7.5ft). Just verify that Capp is not using the name "Texas" to compete with other barbell companies.

Re: Help me pick between three power bars

I just e-mailed Jesups again to ask who makes their bar.

It's my understanding that Capp makes a texas power bar as well as other companies, and that they are all legit. I read posts at a power lifting forum that said the Capps was a great bar for a cheap price.

The Texas Power bar at EliteFTS is out of my price range.

EDIT: Got an e-mail back from Jesup already.

Apparently their bars are made from Power Place Products in IN.

Re: Help me pick between three power bars

I just got an e-mail back from the place with the Texas Power Bar too. I asked them if there were any other pictures of the bar because it was hard buying a bar without being able to try it first, and they said:

This bar is the "choice" of most powerlifting organizations, particularly WABDL and the USPF.
The knurling is superb. I highly recommend it.
Use it for 1 or 2 workouts and if you do not like it, return it to me and I will refund the purchase price.

Re: Help me pick between three power bars

When I wanted an inexpensive slow-lift bar, I got the 1500lb bar from York. The sleeves are chrome and the bar is black/coated. The knurling is fantastic. It is 32mm which is large, but makes squats and presses very comfortable. They have a 30mm version too, but that may only be rated for 1000lbs... :-)

I think these are the bars, but I ordered from Allison directly to get the discount (it was in the low 100s):

You should be able to find Allison Foreman's contact information around this site.
