That'd be pretty crazy. Thanks for posting the idea Lan.

Re: Crazy Workout Ideas

This kind of reminds me of the old Painstorm workouts. Anyone remember those? What happened to them?

Anyways here's one. Find a 20 decent sized tree (10-15'). Chop it down (with an ax). You then have transport the entire thing half a mile. You will probably need to chop it into pieces so do that. The less pieces you make the less trips you will have to take, but the heavier they will be. The more pieces the more trips, but less weight.

Re: Crazy Workout Ideas

I live on a cul-de-sac that is about 1/10 mile from my driveway to the end, and that direction is uphill steep enough to notice it. I have an old Army duffel bag full of rubber mulch. I think it weighs about 70lbs. I do a set of cleans from ground to shoulder, alternating shoulders for 10 reps, then run up the hill and back down for one round. Repeat as many times as necessary to achieve the desired effect.

A guy at our gym got a hold of part of an old telephone pole. Fifteen or 20 ft long, maybe 500-600 lbs? Who knows. Anyway, they said it was too long for his truck. I go:
"Screw the truck! Lets get 10 or 15 dudes, put it on our shoulder and friggin' carry it the 25 miles to the gym!"

The guys thought I was kidding. I would have totally done it. That would have been bad ***! I figured you get some extra guys so you can keep rotating out so you don't have to have that damn thing on your shoulder for all 9, or whatever, hours.

Re: Crazy Workout Ideas

cra·zy [krey-zee]
1. mentally deranged; demented; insane.
2. senseless; impractical; totally unsound: a crazy scheme.

So clearly I was joking. But based on the dictionary definition of crazy it's easy for us to try to dissuade you from doing moronic things in the name of Crossfit. Hell, I'm not even a crossfitter anymore and only Olympic Lift, but I hate the bad rap CF gets because of people doing "crazy wods" like partner barbell thruster throws.

But anyway, now that I know you're looking for "unusual" things, I recommend you look into some Highland games training. Throwing implements are extremely awkward and very fun. If you can find a local club near you, I would definitely give that a shot.

Re: Crazy Workout Ideas

How about pulling a car? It could be a team event, maybe 3 people per team. Two guys and one girl? Tie all three of them to the car and have them pull it for a set distance. But the important part is they must be tied to the car.

Sounds good yeah?

Don't see what could possibly go wrong there.
