I don't think there is a definitive answer here. Both Barry Sears and Loren Cordain suggest keeping total yolk consumption to <6 or so per-week. Cordain does so because of the saturated fat, while Sears mentions the increase in arachidonic acid from egg yolk consumption.
That being said, there are other sources that seem to suggest you can eat as many as you want without a problem. Like most other things the truth will probably lie somewhere in between. |

Sometimes when i get home from work (around 10ish) i will consume two egg yolks and 5 egg whites...I usually dont get to bed till around 1. Eating this amount of eggs, 2 hrs before bed, is it ok?? Does it have any detrimental effect to my training? Or just a good snack after work??

I generally eat 1 yoke per 2 eggs. 1/2 yoke/egg. There's a lot of fat in the yoke! Thats just me though.

Periodically I'll eat a dozen a day for days to weeks, then I go through times when I don't eat them at all for a week or more. They are sometimes more appetizing to me, in fact I will crave them, then other times not.
BTW my last HDLs were 72, LDL 96, trig 43. This test was done the week after Easter, and I was on an egg fest. |
