I just learned that a major cyclone hit Australia.,5744,18546513%255E1702,00.html
Our prayer and thoughts are with the Aussies; we've gotten clobbered by hurricanes here in Florida for the past few years.
For those who have survived devastating storms like those, once is definitely enough.
Hope all the Aussie CrossFitters are okay.

CrossFit NQ "WOD- can you out run Larry?"

This was a SMS from one of the CF crew up here in Townsville sunday night.

We are all safe in Townsville, the cyclone (huricane in US speak) "Larry" was a catorgy 5, just like Katrina but it hit the coast about 250km north of us on monday morning about 7:30am,in a town called Innisfail. It was fast moving, compact and intence.

Townsville had a fair bit of wind and rain and they evacuated some of the northern beach suburbs, schools where closed for the day and most people stayed home from work, minimal damage was done, just a few downed trees and flooding.

In Innisfail they weren't so lucky the town has been trashed 50% of the houses in the area are damaged, most without roofs, some totaly gone, they have no power or water and all the banana and sugarcane crops in the region where wippd out.Heaps of people are homeless or have had their livlihood distroyed but as far as i know no one was killed.
They have started the clean up and they will be sending army personel from townsville up to help.

However another cyclone "Wati" has formed of the coast and is making a B-line for townsville, its not moving as fast as Larry and at the moment is not as strong, yet!

At the rate is going it should cross the coast Thursday/Friday, i will keep you guys informed if you like.

Fiona, all of you will be in our prayers on that one, too!
We got caught almost right in the middle of Hurricane Charley a couple of years ago, and don't care to repeat the experience.
