After one Week

Man, after one week I think I'm hooked. After so many years in the gym with countless & seemingly worthless workouts, seems I finally get it (this took me 30 years to figure out) By far a better workout than 30 minutes on a tread mill at the expensive health club!

My work out yesterday:
Pull ups (assisted) 7-6-3-3-1.5-1.5-2.5-3.5
Push ups 12-12-11-7-7-7-6-7
Sit ups 8-6-8-7-6-6-7-7
Squat 11-12-10-12-12-10-13-15

Not great by many standards but I'm pretty excited and I can't wait to try to improve on the above stats.

My Crosfit guru says rest on rest days, but I'm pretty excited about my rapid weight loss and improved fitness after just one week.

Rest or not today?

Re: After one Week

Rest if you need it. Sometimes you'll be thankful. I'm going for a 2 mile run,....uphill. Many rest days I just do the CFWU.

Oh, you might notice that these boards can be a bit slow, so if you need an immediate answer (within a day or two), it might be better to ask elsewhere.

Re: After one Week

As you have already learned (and will soon be seeing for yourself), it's an extremely effective system which translates to increased performance results on the bar and in real life. I am a relative newbie (approx. 5 months) and cannot believe the results.

My suggestion re: rest is to listen to your body and rest when you need it.

Re: After one Week

I just did my first week of CF also, and I am exhausted!! I'm not sure if it's the workouts or something else- anyone else feel really tired the first week?
I did swim for about 25 minutes yesterday on the rest day (partially bc my shoulder was so stiff and sore from the several days before).

Re: After one Week

Just a suggestion but you may not be getting the proper nutrition based on your increased activity level (1300 calories sounds low). If you're following The Zone, you need to figure out your lean body mass (LBM) and multiply that by your activity factor (0.5 = Sedentary, 1.0 = Intense Training). This may help with the tired feeling. Also, with the increased daily workload you should try and get at least 8 hours of good sleep.

Re: After one Week

Thanks.... I haven't gotten into the zone yet... I've just been tracking my calories on the Daily Plate as well as tracking my exercise and trying to have a net of 1300.
I will look into the zone some more... is it possible to follow it without buying a book or paying for a website?

Re: After one Week

I'm thinking of scheduling a base metabolic rate test so I have a solid idea of where I should be.

Re: After one Week

There are a few websites (Amazon, AbeBooks.com, etc.) where you can find very cheap used books in great condition. I got The Zone from Abe Books for $1.00 in excellent condition. There is also a ton of useful and free information on The Zone web site Hope this helps.
