Re: looking for something to go with hummus

Carrots, broccoli, or "Healthy Hemp" bread (brand is French Meadows & protein is 7 g per slice, carbs seem pretty low/fiber is high). Don't really eat the hummus as often as baba ghanouj, nowadays -- and baba ghanouj goes really really well with broccoli.

Will have to try the quartered onion sometime!

Re: looking for something to go with hummus

That's what I'm talking about - Abu Chasan Ali Karavan - #1 in the country. The head of the family died recently, but the hummus keeps coming and it is just as good.
Anyway, hummus is great but 1/4 of a cup per block is a tease.

I was going to recommend fava beans.
And a nice chianti.

For hummus, along with all the previously mentioned veggies, mushrooms are good. Don't bring a lot of flavor, flat scooping area if they're sliced.

I buy the Ryvita Dark Rye Chrispbread
1 slice, which is a pretty big cracker, has 35 calories, 0 fat and 8g of carbs. Pretty good with the hummus or salsa.

Re: looking for something to go with hummus

I like to keep a cup of water in the fridge with cut celery in it to dip in anything and everything we have at home. Hummus is the number one, but sometimes homemade tzatziki, salsa, and natural peanut butter end up on the end of the celery stick.

LOVE it with Stacy's Whole Wheat pita chips. But they're even better with Baba Gahnouj!
