sandbags, sledgehammers and tires

Where are you guys getting your exercise know-how concerning this equipment? I'd like more info and I'm looking for an easy resource to start from.

Thanks!

Zach-Evan Esh also sells a video that outlines alot of moves that can be done with these items. He is a crossfit affiliate, search for crossfit underground. The video is kind of expensive but has lots of moves. Good luck.

+1 on rosstraining.com

He has quite a few free vids on his site. Also, do a search on youtube for videos. You can find a bunch there, too.

Ditto, Rosstraining. I can say without reservation, that all of his works are WELL worth the money. They will really add to your fitness library.

Just scour the net, google, youtube, there's a lot out there.

Re: sandbags, sledgehammers and tires

I'll give out a third shout out for Ross Training. This guy is real strong and fit in the crossfit meaning of the word and loves improvising whatever he can to workout with.

I love his willingness to try crazy ideas for workouts, like his "water ball" where he took a swis ball and filled it with water until it weighs probably 150 or 200 lbs, then uses it for lifting because it's such a ***** to hold on to!

I made a variable weight sand bag from his instructions. It works well and is very versatile.

Re: sandbags, sledgehammers and tires

Here is a seven part series on Bodybuilding.com on using a sledgehammer and tire for GPP.

Also, Crossfit Journals #65 (Jan 08) and #68 (April 08) have articles on Sandbag trainiing.

I'll be number 4. Ross rocks. I have two of his books, and intend to pick up his latest DVD in due course. His material and attitude is Crossfit-like, but somewhat more predictable and structured (from the user's standpoint) and is aimed to a greater extent at combat athletes.
