Re: 14.2 strageties/ scores

Here's a really bizarre idea: I feel like oly shoes would definitely help with the OHS, but compared to regular shoes, the extra weight would have to make a difference once you got into the higher reps of C2B. I have Reebok Lifters. I was considering having them tightened via only the strap, and quick peel them off (by loosening the strap) before going to C2B. Coming back to the barbell, slip them on, quick pull the strap and go. At my level, I'm not needing precious milliseconds, I'd be thrilled as a puppy with two peters to finish the third round. I feel like a couple seconds spent doing this, will add up to helping my C2B's enough to make up for it. Crazy, or not?

yes same guy as the regionals. Several people were watching the workout. Might have turned in the workout to HQ for the top score and they rejected it?

Yes that is Ryan Fisher.

I wouldn't recommend doing this. The oly lifters aren't that heavy and any time you save by taking them off will be lost putting them back on. You might have time for this in the 10/12 rounds but not past that. Thinking back to this workout and how out of breath I was in the 14/16 round, the last thing I would want to do is bend over and wrestle with my shoes. Adjust your kip to compensate for the weight, you'll be good.

Lifters weigh less then 2 pounds. Not sure how much it will help. That said if you will take a few seconds before getting back on the bar after the C2B then you really aren't losing any time.

If you're gonna go through all that, why not just do the entire thing bare footed and put your heels on a small plate for the OHS? Accomplishes the same thing and you don't waste time jacking with your shoes.

Re: 14.2 strageties/ scores

I thought about heels up on a plate or something, but somehow that seemed like maybe using "foreign" equipment or something? Someone earlier in this thread asked if that would be allowed and no one responded.

I know, lifters shouldn't be a material amount of weight, probably no worse than doing the WOD before taking your daily trip to the john, but for some reason, thinking about the extra weight swinging way down at my feet during kipping, seemed like it would be noticeable.

My hubby was worried the most about the C2B (he has a bit of a bum shoulder and doesn't butterfly his c2b yet), but felt the OHS were manageable. He specifically decided not to wear his olys because of the weight. He felt like it would really slow him down and the last thing he needed on the pull ups was something to tax him even more. He was pretty happy with his score of 128 wearing regular Nanos.

One of the guys at my box said he liked wearing his Oly shoes for C2B because the added weight gave him more momentum on the kip. Not sure if there are any truth to that.

He posted that he had a few friends watch the video; and there were a few reps where they weren't sure he fully opened his hips on the OHS. Took his score down by his own choice, re-doing today.
