Re: Kettlebell Sport

Thanks for posting those. Very interesting. I have seen several videos of Valery Fedorenko and am very impressed with the kettlebell athletes.

Re: Kettlebell Sport

This is cool. I just bought a set of kettlebells and can't wait to incorporate them into my training. Have you noticed improvements in strength and power from them, or is it just more of a conditioning workout? And are the weightlifting shoes a good choice when doing them? Thanks for the video!

No real need for weightlifting shoes for kettlebell. I am not sure why he is wearing them. Kettlebell sport may be different but for normal kb workouts many people prefer barefoot.

I've watched a few competition video's and the people who are doing them always seem to wear weightlifting shoes. I guess that's why she is wearing them, it's what's normal?

Re: Kettlebell Sport

I was just wondering how the GS swing would translate into doing a typical strict KB swing for CF? I total understand the GS swing for the snatch and the clean but is it the most efficient way of doing the standard KB swing? I was always under the impression that hip extension (firing the glutes) was essential in the KB swing. It has always been that I tire faster if I am not driving my hips through the swing.

Would you maybe be willing to show us what a KB swing in the GS style might look like? Or maybe just explain to us?

Thanks, we appreciate the great vids.

Re: Kettlebell Sport

@John : Thanks Man
@Kevin: I integrate the sport style into my training for strongman events, mostly for breathing control, grip, and conditioning. Also for learning to increase my efficiency. As for the weightlifting shoes for the sport style yes. When I post the videos on the Jerk you will see why.
@Olen: I don't believe GS swing would translate much to a CF KB swing, a GS swing is about mechanical efficiency, you're only goal in KB sport is maximal reps. A CF swing is mechanically inefficient, not necessarily a bad thing, just different. Firing the glutes is essential during a hard style swing, but again, two different disciplines, KB sport is about maximal reps, taking the path of least resistance.

We didn't go over the 2 hand GS swing, we focused on the 1 hand as it's a primary exercise in sport development. Here's the swing video again (SFW) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-R7oJ2XUvcs

Re: Kettlebell Sport

Idea, KB circuit as in station stuff from point A to point B

Idea 2, moving KB exercises to get somewhere.

Just ideas though....

Also part 4 is very informational for me.
