135# Fran

Has anybody done the standard 21-15-9 Fran but with 135lbs and unweighted pullups? I'd be curious to see how times compare to the Rx'd weights. I just did it the other day, and although it sucked, I think the 95lb version was actually worse. It always leaves me a crumpled heap on the ground gasping for air. This one made my legs hurt. Anyway, I did the 135 one in 4:06 and 2:09 for the standard. Any challengers?

Re: 135# Fran

In the CrossFit Football world, this is known as Gorda Fran.

Here is a video of Travis Harrison doing it in 2:50

Many comments on the pull up range of motion. The combination of butterfly kips and camera angle make it difficult to judge. Regardless, it's quite an effort.

Re: 135# Fran

BTW, Kevin, nice job on the 135# Fran yourself! That 4:06 is a solid time. Are you competing in your sectionals?

Re: 135# Fran

Like the Idea of Fran with 135#. At Crossfit Wilmington we've done a Heavier than Heavy Fran with 185# thrusters and 45# weighted pullups 12-8-5. Good one!

Re: 135# Fran

Man-
I just checked my log... in Sept 2008 I did the regular Heavy Fran (only had a 40# vest for pull ups), and I was barely able to complete it under 10:00.

I can't imagine 135# thrusters with the 21-15-9 rep scheme. Brutal!

Plus = 135# is over 80% of my body weight.

Re: 135# Fran

Wow, Travis CRUSHED those 135# thrusters. Do you know his CFT? I'm wondering how strong someone has to be to move that barbell like that.

I was thinking the same thing. He definitely made 135# look light.

Re: 135# Fran

I am wary of anyone posting a 4:06 Fran using 135# without some proof to back it up with a video.

It looks like you have impressive strength numbers for sure, but forgive me for saying it is very hard to believe you have a sub 10 "Angie" and a 4 min Heavy Fran.
