what to do about the competetive aspect
I'm living in South korea right now, and can't do most of the Rx body weight exercises because I don't have access to a pullup bar or even a tree to use (not enough time to run to the mountain).
So I've started coming up with my own attempts at workouts using my body weight and my 10Kg barbell plate (usually swings of a nature). Now I really love the competitive part of CF, a lot but now don't have any way to compare what I can do to what others can do. I know this sounds dumb, and it's not that important, but I figured I'd post in case there is someone else in my position. Maybe we could swap exercises and times/reps. ![]() |

Re: what to do about the competetive aspect
You won't be able to do everything, but there are plenty of bodyweight-only workouts you can do to compare yourself to others. Off the top of my head:
- 4x400m WOD - Griff - Run 5K - 4 x (50 Squats + Run 400m) WOD - Annie - Michael (sub back ext. with supermans) - 50 Burpees for time - 150 Burpees for time It might take some searching, but these have all appeared on crossfit.com at one time or another. |

pullup bar > 2 chairs and a stick to do body rows. i've also been spotted doing pullups underneath a table using the edge
dip bar > 2 chairs or benches |

Re: what to do about the competetive aspect
You need to start getting a lil inventive. You can certainly build some pullup bar contraption, and probably some paralletes too without any trouble.
I'm sure if you searched and/or checked out various logs, blogs, and logsitall you could get tons of info. on exercises times. |

Sandbags baby! Just get some kind of VERY sturdy bag and put lots of stuff in it; either sand or pea gravel. Still won't satisfy your need for the "competitive aspect, but you'll o doubt have some kick *** workouts that don't entirely depend on BW exercises.

Re: what to do about the competetive aspect
you'd be suprised at home many bodyweight exercises are in logsitall - log in and then look under 'crossfit load' or 'olympic lifts' and you'll see that there are a ton of workouts logged that you can use to create benchmarks - if you run into trouble drop me a line at wkpatton@aol.com
