Richard, I must state that you are not eating enough for any full-grown male. People can tell you to mutiply your blocks and all that, but what you eat in a day I call breakfast....not really, but I'm trying to make a point. Someone even suggested earlier that you substitute your oatmeal for even more veggies, which would most likely lower your calorie intake even more!

Sean,

I have actually decided to just increase my fat to 4x and not change anything else. Call it the software programmer in me, but I want to isolate variables and test their effectiveness

"I want to isolate variables and test their effectiveness"

That's really the only logical way to go about it, unless you never really want to know what the problem is. What I've found intriguing during my time following the Zone is how little you actually NEED to consume to not only get by, but also perform optimally. There's a point where more food doesn't necessarily continue to push any of the markers of health OR performance any higher, and actually going lower than expected can have some pretty nifty effects, most notably the possibility that it makes your body more effecient at utilizing nutrients that it would otherwise waste when you are overfed.
