Injured Rib and/or Oblique
I have an issue with an asymmetry where the right side of my core is significantly weaker than the left. 3 min side plank on left side, 1:30 on the right with a lot of difficulty. When squatting I can easily resist rotation pulling me to the right but have a lot of trouble when being pulled to my left.
When I flex my obliques, the right side has an empty spot where there is muscle on the left. If I lie on a pillow on my mid back and relax I can feel a rib protruding forward on the right where it does not on the left, it is in the same spot as the missing oblique. My physical therapist told me I may have strained the oblique in the past and didn't realize it, I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to fix it and if it's a real issue.
