Re: so who cheated this holiday?

Spent since last Thursday "cheating" and my body is mad at me!!

But, off to the gym right now for some CFFB and then back to eating "normal" today. Going to do start the 30-day Paleo challenge on Jan. 3rd!

yeah, I guess I was pretty hard-nosed about being 100% paleo for the last year or so. My (ch)eating over the holidays has included some pie, eggnog, a bit of bread, ice cream, nothing too crazy or in huge quantities. Haven't really noticed a difference.

I still feel I am better off avoiding gluten and too much sugar, but am thinking being a bit less of a food nazi from now on will probably be better for my overall health.

A thought: if you're so strict that eating junk food makes you feel terrible or perform terrible, then are you really prepared for the "unknown and unknowable" ?
I am not sure what circumstance would happen that I would be forced to survive on nothing but bourbon with eggnog, Derby pie and coconut pie. It would be pretty cool for a few days though.

Maybe not that exact menu, but an extended power outage would force most people to turn to processed food of some kind pretty quickly. Real food spoils, and most people are not personally self-sufficient enough to supply all their own fresh food.

Yeah, but itís been a long time since Crossfit has been only about workouts (if it ever was).

Exactly, and especially if you were in a circumstance where you had to be fed by someone else (think, emergency shelters or something).
If eating a can of corn will make you break out in hives, I guess the CF'er wouldn't really be prepared for the unknown and unknowable.

Ok. I was making a reference to the Crossfit Games which supposedly test the unknown and unknowable.

Re: so who cheated this holiday?

My approach is basically that I don't want to be disciplined about what I eat during the holiday season (Thanksgiving to New Year), so I'm just going to turn it into a good thing and set a bunch of strength PBs. So....yeah, tons of pretty much everything in the past month (pie, ice cream, any kind of meat I saw, butter..just generally a lot of butter), and then saw PBs in deadlift, FS, weighted pullup, etc..

A little paleo IFing should take care of any damage.

Re: so who cheated this holiday?

Oh yea.. I cheated. Went home to the family and had a gigantic Italian meal filled with pasta, cheese, bread, cake and cookies for dessert... lots of deer meat and garden vegetables though as well. I still managed to PR my 5k row today though!
