20 Rep Crossfit Total

While suffering through a 20 rep set of squats this morning Crossfit Knoxville came up with an idea, 20 Rep Crossfit Total.

To come up with your total you would have to complete a max set of 20 reps for each of the CFT exercises.
example
275x20 sq
135x20 press
315x20 dl
725 total

Any takers?

Cool idea.

That'd be an insane 20 rep total (your example).

Re: 20 Rep Crossfit Total

How do you judge the unbroken set of DL? Touch and go? Reset/regrip but no standing up/letting go? How long is too long to "reset and regrip"?

This sounds nasty and I just want to make sure of the standards.

Re: 20 Rep Crossfit Total

I did 20 rep DL's on Tuesday and I went touch and go. I held the weight at the top and took a couple deep breaths once I got to 15.

Once you pick up the 1st rep you can not sit the weight down, only touch and go. You can rest at the top, but you are holding the weight....

Re: 20 Rep Crossfit Total

Ouch. This sounds...fun?

I'd have to disagree with the touch-n-go DL's, since I personally don't do them. Maybe a better way to determine that it's one single set is that you aren't allowed to stand up and rest away from the bar? A slight regrip would be OK, getting up and shaking out your legs, not so much.

The press would hurt me the most, 20 reps is a lot for a strict press. I'd almost rather see a 20 rep push press in there.

Re: 20 Rep Crossfit Total

I created a WOD for my gym that uses the components of the CFT in 21-15-9 rep scheme for metcon based on the athlete's body weight.

21-15-9
100% body weight dead lift
75% body weight back squat
50% body weight shoulder press

The owners even made a video of it.

I think it is WFS, but I no longer have speakers on the computer, so I don't know what the background music is - so consider yourself warned that it MAY NOT BE WFS.

Re: 20 Rep Crossfit Total

So how much would it suck if you got only 19 reps on an attempt. I'm guessing that would be 19 reps wasted since total would have to be 20. Sounds like a cool idea though.

My only problem with the regrip is that most people fail on DL attempts because of grip not back strength. So I feel if you trained multirep DL's touch and go style you strengthen the grip.

I am open for suggestions, lets nail something down and knock it out.
I am going for 800#

I think you're gonna win, no matter what. Beast! I think I could do a legit 315x20 BS and maybe 275-315 DL (haven't done a set over 5 reps in forever...) but just have no clue on the OHP part, wouldn't even know where to start, weight-wise.
