Re: Can't Pose...

Nike Free 3.0s felt great, they were a step in the right direction. Puma Salohs again, a step in the right direction. VFF or barefoot is really the only way to go, though.

Re: Can't Pose...

That was probably my 10K post you are talking about -- just to clarify, I have been running 10Ks for almost 2 years, and can run 20K. Just not well, more like a combination of trudging and wheezing. Tiny children pass me during races. The PR I posted was for my best time, which was incredibly surprising to me considering I didn't go out that night to set a PR and it was a tough course.

Using POSE made me feel like I've been running with a parachute behind me in the past, and now the parachute is off.

I'm sure you are right that my technique is not perfect, I do feel muscle soreness in the lower legs that I haven't felt in a long time, and I'm looking forward to refining and seeing even better results.

Re: Can't Pose...

Yeah Paul...that was you.
I've run marathons and just did 10K this past weekend at an easy 9 minute pace, but still can't stay in the Pose. Will keep trying.

Re: Can't Pose...

Did Nancy today. Maintained pose pretty much through all the runs. Focused on pulling feet up, slight lean, and balls of feet vs. toes.
Seems like progress.

Re: Can't Pose...

I also started out on the POSE with 10k business. What helped me was really focusing on using the hammies to pull the feet up, and it sounds like you're doing that. I'll be honest, I pushed through what I probably shouldn't have and consequently my calves were pretty sore for a good couple days. But what really was surprising was how I wasn't even close to breathing obscenely hard. Make sure you're not tensing your feet, especially when they are in the process of being pulled up; I found myself basically pointing my toes when they were under my butt for some reason. I had to put an end to that pretty quickly.

Hope Pose goes well for you!

Re: Can't Pose...

For me just an attempt at POSE went a long way to correcting bad mechanical form. One day I hope to be at the point where I consider a 9-minute mile an easy pace.

Re: Can't Pose...

take of your shoes and run on grass. the less shoe you have the more it hurts to run improperly. Once you get your mustard up you should get vibrams. Nike Frees aren't bad either.
