Joel - ouch, ouch, ouch. I can grit through one set. Multiple sets like that w/ little rest...tough!

Ricky - I just did this to kickstart my *** into gear after an ugly turkey weekend. I don't think it's smart to keep it up for long while in a caloric deficit. Once I hit 220ish, I plan on doing a little "bulking" and will incorporate 20 reppers more often - gotta have some milk in the diet at that point to survive. I do think working up to 365x20 is a reasonable goal, though.

I just started working out again and decided to give the 20-rep squat routine a try. I started at the light weight of 95 lbs because I had no idea what I could expect to do. The 95 was tough but nothing like what I've read about so I guess I'll start upping the weight. I did sleep thru 3 alarms the next morning though! I'm 5' 11" and weigh 365 lbs so my primary goal is to shed bulk. This has led to some confusion about strength training because 2 years ago I did Starting Strength (at a weight of about 310) and my clothes got tighter and tighter. I'm hoping the higher reps and lower weights will prevent this.

That was inspiring. I'm at about 190 lbs. BW with a 215x2 max on back squats. I have a long way to go before I see 300 on the bar. This thread kind of makes me want to start squatting three days a week again. But then I remember how my knees reacted to that in the past. . . .

From all the reading etc iv done on 20 rep squat program (or breathing squats also known as), there not gonna be any better than any other method for weight loss. It is really a bulking program, with teh target being to add 5lbs to squat each session or as often as possible. Id personally high bar squat it to make it easier sucking in all the air you need for those last few reps especially.

Defo tough stuff. And a routine that when done with intent will work!!

Damn. I'll have to cajole my friend to do a 20 rep with me sometime soon so we can enjoy in the misery together. It's not really in my program right now, but sounds fun.

I've done 20 rep squats, but never with a 10rm weight. Maybe 225, but I can't be positive about that. It sounds doable right now as I need to calculate 10rm.

Hmm, 10rm is actually around that weight now. Fun, fun. I'd like to try 250+ but it sounds out of my league for 20.

I am on a SS cycle now and will try this in a couple of weeks when I start to stall (after a couple of rest days of course).
