Video: Mike Boyle teaches an awkward hang snatch

Link Here wfs

Or a wrong hang snatch. Notice the hand positions, "throwing bar to the ceiling", "pull shoulders back". Notice the 2nd guy's snatch, absolutely horrid, I couldn't imagine him attempting that with 100kg. The weight would fall back on his skull or torso crushing him.

Wow, that is coming from the guy that said CF workouts will cause injury because of the Olympic lifting prescribed in them? Yikes.

The best part is at the beginning of the video when he says that the snatch is easy to teach.

The snatch is easy to teach...if you can teach it right. I love how he contradicted himself saying weightlifting is very technical and hard to master in another article.

Hey, he's right. At least if you're doing the lifts the way he describes... no wonder he thinks they're dangerous.

Maybe that will help me next time I go for a PR... "Just throw the weight at the ceiling"... alright... got it. PR here I come...

No.

Wow, I heard about this guy before as Coach G has commented on him before but WTF.

I was thinking of someone else or envisioning another crappy Oly coach but these were pretty crappy and non impressive loads.

You can only throw 2 or 300 pounds or kilos so high before you have to get under it.

interesting the examples he uses for his nfl combine prep "graduates": eric swann and mike mamula -- two of the biggest busts in nfl history.

While neither turned out to be Mondo-Great, they did play for a handful of years, Eric Swann going to the Pro-Bowl twice and being All-Pro twice. That doesn't sound too shabby.

Re: Video: Mike Boyle teaches an awkward hang snatch

Oh my.

Was it just me, or was the second athlete using his hips (as in physically wtih the hips hitting the bar) to sling the weight up and around. The arch in his back was plain scary.

But then again, maybe this is the next generation of hang power snatches. The kipping hang power snatch.

And yes, now I understand why this guy feels that O-lifts would be dangerous at higher volume. The spine can only hyper-extend so many times before you hurt yourself.

Shameful display of an O-lift.
