Jason Terry ties NBA playoff record as Mavs sweep defending champions

Gasol's disappearance major factor in Lakers' demise

Jason Terry tied an NBA postseason record with nine 3-pointers and the Mavericks matched a league playoff mark with 20 3s on their way to a 122-86 victory over the Lakers on Sunday, giving them a sweep of their second-round series against the most successful coach in NBA history and the two-time defending champions. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?...=ESPNHeadlines

I'm a Lakers fan. Are there any NBA fans here? Pau Gasol is supposed to be the second best player on the Lakers, however look at his statistics from the 2011 playoff season compared to the 2010 playoff season:

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/pau_ga...eer_stats.html
2010 Playoff Stats
Games: 23
Points: 19.6
Rebounds: 11.1

Block Shots: 2.1
Field Goal%: 53.9%
Free Throw%: 75.9%

2011 Playoff Stats
Games: 10
Points: 13.1
Rebounds: 7.8

Block Shots: 1.7
Field Goal%: 42.0%
Free Throw%: 80.0%

First Round v. New Orleans
Games: 6
Points: 13.5
Rebounds: 6.8

Block Shots: 2.3
Field Goal%: 41.8%
Free Throw%: 85.7%

Conf. Semifinals v. Dallas
Games: 4
Points: 12.5
Rebounds: 9.3
Block Shots: 0.8
Field Goal%: 42.2%
Free Throw%: 70.6%

Re: Jason Terry ties NBA playoff record as Mavs sweep defending champions

I'm very interested to see who comes out of the west now... I think the Mavs are setup best to get through.

Pau didn't show up, plain and simple...not sure what happened to shake his confidence so bad, maybe the Lakers just felt priviledged, over-confident, then when the stuff got rough they weren't mentally prepared. Crazy...

Looks like the Heat have a straight shot to the Finals unless Boston can stay healthy enough to get through.

For the record I'm a Knicks fan, hopefully we're on the right track again with Amare and Melo

Fiancee breaks up with Gasol...helped by urging of Kobe's wife? WFS

This may have been the 'trust issues' Bynum was referring to when interviewed after the Lakers fell down 3-0.

I believe this is a very appropriate forum to facilitate rumors like this that I have no way of knowing if it's true or not. Can't imagine a breakup with fiancee not having some impact though.

Aushion, oh yeah. I think Dallas will make it to the NBA Finals. They are much more talented than Oklahoma City or Memphis, although I am impressed by Atlanta and Memphis stepping up their game this year in the playoffs.

Pau's brother Marc has played better than Pau. I used to dislike Pau as a player because I thought he was too soft, then he toughened up, and now

I'm reminded of the 2008 finals, when Pau Gasol was AWOL with the season on the line. As a Celtics fan, that was fine with me, but I'll bet Lakers fans were pretty irritated.

I feel bad for Phil.
The Lakers played like chumps and thugs, especially yesterday.
Phil deserved much better than that.

Oh well.

My guess is the Lakes will have a new coach (obviously) and a much different team next year, and Kobe will never win another ring.

Andrea Bynum is a wannabe thug. Jose Barea is 6' 175lbs and Bynum is 7' 285lbs.

(Some of the YouTube video comments are not family friendly).

This is why Andrea doesn't pick on players his own size:

I'm not going to lie, because my Knicks have sucked for about 10 years, I jumped over to the Celtics, mainly because they are one of the 8 teams we get to watch regularly on the West Coast...here's hoping they get the win!

This just kills me. I hate the Heat with a fiery passion. Mainly because I dislike Lebron James so intensely. But their stupid preseason victory party really irked me beyond belief.
