Bench Press showed up quite often in WODs from 2001-2003.

I hadn't benched for a couple of months and recently started a strength training period and hit a 3 rep PR.
No doubt crossfit works but the bench is a legit lift that should be used more. An occasional WOD pops up with it in but I am surprised it doesn't feature more. Its not hard to programme into a WOD.

The bench can be a tremendous help to your press (especially incline bench work).

When I first decided to be semi-serious about my lifting I was doing a Westside type routine. With the other two lifts I easily made gains but for the bench breaking plateaus was and still is tough.
