Rowers

When it comes to rowers is there any particular reason that everyone says use the Concept 2 rowers? Is there any gain with a concept 2 over another brand?

Re: Rowers

I don't know about other rower brands other than the ones I've seen in various gyms over the years. I liked the feel of the Concept 2 so that is what I purchased. I've had 8-9 years of trouble-free service and more than 2 million meters out of my concept 2.

Re: Rowers

There are three main reasons that the Concept2 is the best rowing machine.

First is the unparalleled track record of the machines. A couple million meters is barely broken in. I regularly use C2 model Cs that have been under daily use from collegiate rowing teams for 10+ years. Maintenance is simple, parts are still available inexpensively from the company for every model they've ever made, and there's an online community that has great experience and is very helpful when something happens to help get your machine running again.

Second is that it is the unchallenged standard for measurement. Some folks are going to the Water Rower, but if you want to compare yourself to others, either in CF or not, the C2 is the machine to use for comparison.

Third is the online tools that the company provides at their website and their forums. It's an ongoing commitment by the company to their customers, many of whom bought their machines used, and thus have never been direct C2 customers, and who are unlikely to ever have their machine break or wear out to the point of needing to replace it. This is a kind of commitment to customers that is rare and I appreciate it.

Re: Rowers

Thanks for the support guys. We work hard to make the best rowing machine possible and we know CrossFit. Many of us are putting WOD's right here in the shop in Morrisville Vermont every day.

Re: Rowers

Thanks again and start sending in pics of you guys training on the rowers so we can use them here at C2. I was hoping for a 2K for the first WOD of the open. WOW 7 min of burpees that will be WAY worse than sub 7 min 2k!
