Smile Workshop/Courses in California

Hi,

Im planning a trip to California in July to watch the Games. Im also going to the Mobility Seminar at NorCal. I was wondering if anyone know about any other courses or workshops that are being held in or around San Fransisco or Los Angeles during the last two weeks of July? I would appreciate any input here guys....Also any recommendations to the best boxes in the areas to visit
Thanks a lot!

Re: Workshop/Courses in California

I doubt there will be a lot of stuff going on since everybody will be busy with the games.

All I can think of is getting a few late night sessions in with Sean Waxman while you're in South Bay.

Once you get to Bay Area I would recommend Catalyst in Sunnyvale and Calstrength in San Ramon for some one-on-one seshs.

Thanks a lot, Kristian!
I will most definitely check these out! Anyone else knows about any good gymnastic coaches in the area or any great CrossFit boxes to visit?

Re: Workshop/Courses in California

Well since you are going to Carson for the Games I can only recommended Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Torrance.

I used to live in Hermosa and Torrance (I'm in SF now). There is a few good boxes that you should check out. My old gym TSAC and Code 3 are on the must-go-to gyms.

Besides that you are only 15mins away from Carson.

Btw, Waxmans is in the neck of the woods too.

Last year there was a big Games after-party in Manhattan Beach as well so def the area to hang out.

Let me know if you will be in NorCal on a Saturday.. you can stop by my gym in San Carlos if you like for a wod or two

Re: Workshop/Courses in California

If you're gonna be in socal and want to do gymnastics, maybe go visit Dogtown and Dusty Hyland who works for CFGymnastics. In Norcal, CFMarin in Corte Madera as Roger Harrell was the SME before Tucker or you could see about going to Acrosport or CFSF if Paoli is there.

In Socal for gymnastics there is a lot. I'd have to actually look up the socal USA gymnastics gym roster but I think it would just be easier to contact Dusty about local gyms. I don't know about the gyms with an open gym for adults capability.

If you were in San Francisco, I would go visit Jim Schmidt as he is the best and most senior weightlifting coach in the area. Greg would be great to visit but Sunnyvale is quite a commute from the city.

I think Cal Strength would be fun to go check out but Schmidt is who I would go to and he is South SF. Diane Fu is somewhere around but I would go to Schmidt first because of convenience and seniority. I think Greg would really narrow down some things but he's 90 minutes away from the city. Max Aita is pretty close to the Bay Bridge in Emeryville so that wouldn't be too far from the city either.
