Tires!!
Ok, I just picked up and dropped off 4 tires for my work outs. I *think* the weights are between 50-60lbs for the smallest tire and 150-200lbs for the biggest one.
My question is, what's the best way to clean them? Soap and water? Bleach spray? Anything? I'm not sure where they have been or what they've been in. I'm not to worried about myself but, I have my 19 month old son to worry about. So please give me comments or suggestions one the "proper" way to clean these tires. I'll try to take a quick iPhone picture in a few but, I'll get better pictures with my camera tomorrow. Thanks all. Michael |

Re: Tires!!
Here are my iPhone pictures of the tires. (Didn't get a good one of the smaller tire.) I'll post better ones tomorrow after work. Maybe just before or after my work out.

Re: Tires!!
Use Simple Green or a similar citrus based degreaser, a scrub brush and a hose. Works great for tires still on the car too.

Re: Tires!!
How to clean a tire:
Place the tire up on edge. Stand in front of the tire Feet shoulder width apart and at about 30 deg. angle. Squat down and place hands palms up at the 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock position Keeping your back flat and your head up, drive up with the hips into the standing position. |

You know, this technique (sounds like the technique doubted by Diesel Crew - check their video on tire flipping on You Tube) would actually probably work better for you than the "tire deadlift" approach to flipping. Using this technique, you actually transfer force forward into the tire with your chest moreso than your arms. With one arm you might have to drive more at a point between your chest and the shoulder of the arm that you will have gripping the tire. |

Re: Tires!!
In that case, I'd go with the Simple Green and a brush. If you have a pickup truck, you might run them by the car wash and hit them with the pressure washer. Anyway, avoid getting to much water inside the tire. It is a pain getting the water out.
