I know at least one other person on these boards uses the FitDay website. I've poked around on it a little bit and really like what it does, but I was wondering if anyone had any idea of how accurate its numbers are? It purports to have info on every food and activity known to man, and although I know not to trust in it absolutely, I'm wondering how close it even comes as an estimate? Thanks!

Hi, Bin
I've used fitday for about a year now and have found that is can be quite off. What worked best for me was to enter in all of the foods I eat regularly into the custom food section. It takes time upfront, however now that everything is entered it takes me about 3 min per day to log my food, and I know it is accurate. |

For info on things like produce, where do you get your info then?

For that I use whatever fitday pulls up. Anything packaged I enter in myself.

Oh I've also put recipes in there you can search for ingredients on www.nutritiondata.com (work/family safe)and store them in your pantry. Then you can select desired ingredients and make your recipe. Then take the info from the recipe and put it into fitday.

I've been using it for a couple of months, and I really find it beneficial. Previously I'd been recording all my food in a notebook and entering it into a homemade spreadsheet with numbers from www.calorieking.com (wfs).
I think FitDay's numbers on foods seem okay for the most part, but I'm not convinced about their caloric requirements, basic metabolic rates and such. I generally figure that out with equations from other sources and just use FitDay to make sure I'm within my nutritional goals. I also use the journal as a backup for my exercise posts on CrossFit. One thing I wish FitDay had is a body fat tracker. |

I used it for a month and found it useful to determine I was not getting enough magnesium and zinc.
