UK CrossFitters

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, and desperately looking for anyone training in CrossFit in Kent, England. I'm thinking I can't be the only one in the whole county who wants to CrossFit...

The gym I train at is OK with pretty much anything I've tried to do in terms of scaled and modified WODs, but it's just too busy to get through a WOD without losing a piece of equipment to someone half-way through. And, there's always the strong possiblilty that I might be doing a lot of stuff horribly wrong!!

If there's anyone out there who can point me in the direction of a trainer / club (I know there are no affiliates nearby), I'd be in your debt.
(And before anyone suggests it - I'm too far out to travel to London).

Cheers
Scott

Scott, check out www.funckey.co.uk (wfs) it bills itself as the UK home of functional fitness and covers functional fitness, oly lifting and crossfit. Most of the UK affliates post on there too.

Hi Chris.

Thanks for the reply.
I have had a look around the FK.UK website for similar threads - maybe I should post one!

Cheers

Sorry Chris - another question for you (you can tell I'm new around here).
What does "wfs" mean?

Re: UK CrossFitters

Yeah - Scott get they self over to Funckey - growing by the day with Uk functional fitness folk. Can't guarantee any gyms in kent but I know a few garage or garden warriors post on FK:UK. I'm not too far away from you in essex. and the chap who runs the site is in Surrey (IIRC).

ps - WFS = Work Family Safe - i.e. the link has no naughtiness etc

pps - you could always not use the gym - especially through the summer.

Re: UK CrossFitters

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the headsup about the garden/garage warriors around. It's not an option for me, but like you say - there might be someone lurking round here that might be happy to share their space.
I've toyed with the idea of making an occassional trip to an affiliate in Caterham (my nearest one), but finding time to get out there is tough (family life!). Ditto the guy in Surrey.

I'll get posting on FK.UK - seems like it could be the best bet.

On the gym front - the owner was watching me doing my stuff yesterday. He seemed genuinely interested, so I pointed to the main site. I guess he's either going to jump on board, or ask me to pack it in !

Cheers
Scott

PS Nice to see the thistle on your post. Especially today of all days ;-)
Shame we only got 2 Lions slots though.... (but then again, that's probably what we deserve :-(

Re: UK CrossFitters

Scott - yeah - the two I expected in all honesty, if we'd had a better 6N's I would have thought 1 or 2 of our backs might have been in with a shout.
