Lunges make more sense than squats, I guess. As for burpees.... get fast.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

When I fenced competitively, the master would occasionally have us get on a treadmill and practice our advances to build up endurance. Since the length of your advance doesn't change too terribly much, you had to develop some damned quick feet if you didn't want to end up on your face. It looked ridiculous, but hey, it worked!

To be honest, I'm going to steal that one from you. Consider this my citation, not in MLA.

It is a Dane Cook phrase. I like it so much I've taken to using it all the time. Well. Whenever a phrase describing a bunch of pens is needed.

As far as spotting lifts that don't need them, they are really doing forced reps or negatives. THey can be useful if used correctly.

Oh, you're definitely right about that. It was just a very peculiar sight as they were doing cable upright rows. I would, however, bet a kidney they didn't know they were doing forced reps or any other specific technique.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Murph,

I wouldn't take that bet, cause you would win.

I mention this because you see a lot of idiots doing useful things in ways in which they are not useful. I don't want people here that don't have as much of a fitness background think all of the techniques they see at a globo gym is crap just because they are being used incorrectly.

I was spotting a guy on bench yesterday. He went for 10. I spotted him on 9 (the bad stopped moving). He did 10, but he emphasized the negative since he knew he would need help getting it up.

Burpees on the treadmill are like up-downs in football. Ugh, I'm getting exhausted just thinking about up-downs.
