Do any of you ring gurus have recs. for doing consecutive MUs? Im not having much trouble with singles BUT attempts @ more than just one are all failures. After a MU I am able to lower down to the bottom dip position but just cant keep the false grip for the dead hang position & from there have to let go...any ideas thanks

David,
I can't do multiples either, but my son Connor can pop off 5-6 in a row. He has trouble maintaining his false grip because his hands are still so small. When he drops out of the top position he loses the false grip. He re adjusts his grip while he is hanging in the bottom position and then goes for the next MU. I also have seen him do the pullup portion of the MU and then re adjust his grip before rolling over and pushing up (of course that is just nuts). |

Just keep working on it. As you lower down just let your shoulders roll back a bit and really work on keeping the false grip. Loosing the false grip and having to readjust will really kill your numbers. If you keep working em, you will get to where you'll drop back to the hang and be able to bounce right back to support. (this is a ways down the road).

Almost certainly the problem is the method by which you are attempting to maintain your false grip. After the first muscle up, make sure to establish the false grip as you begin the descent into the next repetition. Due to flexibility and strength issues, you may not be able to maintain a false grip with straight arms.
Don't be overly concerned at this time, all will improve with practice. http://www.crossfit.com/cf-coaches/s...article018.htm Yours in Fitness, Coach Sommer |
