Pop at my strernum

When I am either doing SP, PP, or PJ with about 50%-100% RM I usually will have a pop at my sternum. This usually happens with the first or second rep. It's not painful but just feels very weird. Should I be worried or is this just just one of the many funny things the body does.

Just Crepitus, it happens to me at my sternum every once in a while. In this case no pain = no worries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crepitus wfs

Re: Pop at my strernum

While doing dips last night I started to get this tightening in my chest that felt like I needed my back cracked, only it was in my chest. I laid on my back on the bench press rack and rested the bar on my sternum and breathing in forcefully I got my sternum to "pop".

About 25 dips after that the tension was so great in my chest that I couldn't do any more dips and had to stop at about 60.

I finished the pull-ups and my chest"popped" at least 5 times while doing pull-ups. My chest still feels sore and when I put pressure on it I feel like something is binding up inside.

Anyways, I hope it's not a permanent thing.

Re: Pop at my strernum

My sternum started popping when my pullup numbers increased. No pain, just an audible "pop". I don't worry about it because it does not cause any discomfort.

Re: Pop at my strernum

I've been actually meaning to post about something like this for a while... Generally comes up in conjunction with dips. Generally the first couple are the worst, sometimes I can't manage to drive back out of the dip because of the pain. My sternum used to pop when I felt stuff like this, but lately (the past couple months) it hasn't, just gets bound up worse until I let it be for a while and relax.

Only thing I've found to help a little is focusing more on an active shoulder that's down and a bit forward. Anyone have any ideas how to deal with this in the long term?
