Very Weak, Poor Metabolism
Long story short:
Only have a tiny bit of muscle and a little fat (basically didn't eat much for a long time, lost tons of muscle), plus my metabolism is ****. I'm 6'4" and 184 pounds. I really want to boost my metabolism and improve my performance as an athlete. Should I work at a pure hypertrophy program for a bit or dive right into CrossFit? I've been dabbling in XFit but really want to dedicate myself one way or the other. |

The results from Crossfit are consistent with you goals of metabolic "boost" and athletic performance increase. Dive in.

Re: Very Weak, Poor Metabolism
from observing most of the posts here, i think alot of people did SS to get the initial strength boost before fully engaging into the WODs. And from what i've read in this forum, that's generally the best way to get stronger and then make a beast out of yourself.

Re: Very Weak, Poor Metabolism
SS to the letter (including the milk) for 2-6 months depending on how much muscle you want, then CF.

Re: Very Weak, Poor Metabolism
It's about 30 bucks a week. not too expensive. Drink as much as you can afford. At your height and weight, you could use the extra calories.

Re: Very Weak, Poor Metabolism
Well, drink what you can afford, and make sure to supplement with lots of lean meats and healthy fats.
Milk is ideal, but it IS expensive. $30/week isn't expensive if you are making a good salary, but if you're in college or on a low hourly wage, then that's $30/week that gets taken from things like rent and electricity bills. |

Re: Very Weak, Poor Metabolism
Drink the milk. Is milk really expensive? Cokes, which have zero nutritional value, sells at ~1.25 for the two liter. I don't know how much the gatorade is. If you buy a coke at a machine, then it's 75 cents to 1 dollar for a can....much more expensive than milk. Unless all you are drinking is water...from the school faucet, no ice...then drink the milk and water only. Eat real food...its less expensive and better.

Are you on a meal plan? How can you get milk at your cafeteria?
