Re: fight shorts
You mean the board short style? If so, Sinister by far makes the best shorts - they actually make them for a bunch of the other big companies, as well. Second choice would be Hitman (who also make shorts for a lot of the other companies). I've also heard good things about Sprawl, but never owned a pair myself.
Don't bother buying Tapout - in the past all their shorts were made by Sinister and Hitman and recently, instead, they switched to shopping out to China and they aren't nearly as well done. |

Re: fight shorts
I've never owned this style short (mostly because until very recently, my body shape would not allow them to stay put)... but that's all changing. However, I noticed a lot of sites sell them in sizes 32 then jump to 38....
My question is, do these (Sinister and the like) have drawstrings? If I buy the 38 I'll need a little snuggin... the 32 would be way too small. Thanks. |

Re: fight shorts
I have both Sinister and Sprawl. The Sinister "Gladiator" is more like a typical board short. No flex fabric in the crotch, almost nylon like feel. They have a nice elastic draw string, dry fast and are sized right. Cut just above the knee and a little slimmer fit than the Sprawls. I wear these most when doing CF, but I don't like rolling in them, I find them a little too slim at times.
The Sprawls are at another level. The fabric is softer, dries as fast or faster and breathes better. They have a flexible fabric panel in the crotch area that is very elastic. These are my rolling shorts and only wear to CF every once in a while. Both have a nice velcro closure and look good so its a toss up.... |

Re: fight shorts
I second the Sprawl. Phenomenal short. Great performance (rolling, crossfitting, playing soccer, you name it), great look!

Re: fight shorts
I have a pair of first generation Sprawl shorts and though injuries have kept me from rolling much in recent years I still follow their products and additions like split legs and stretch fabric seem great. Throw some underarmor compression shorts under them and you're good to go.
Only Wanderlei Silva in his Pride days can rock the spandex in my opinion. ![]() |
