Hi,
I’ve been reading up on the Crossfit program and it looks great. My main priority is fitness. I’ve been reading a lot of the forums and many people are looking to the program to provide them with fitness and to gain more muscle mass. I’m not really interested in the muscle mass, I like where I am at now, just looking to tone up a bit. I definately do not want to get bulkier. I’m 5’7”,male, and weigh around 165. Overall fitness is my main goal, and hopefully I can see a boost in my climbing/bouldering performance as well. Will Crossfit training bulk me up too much? I understand there might not be a cut and dry answer, I know many factors are included ie nutrition etc. Just an idea of what to expect, I guess would help. Thanks!! It will only bulk you up if you eat above maintenance calories.

Don't want to oversimplify things but gaining muscle mass is an after affect of the right combination of training and nutrition like Steven said above. You always have to remember "form follows function."
No one has any clue of your fitness background, experience etc. The best thing to tell you is find out how much you need to eat. Then don't overeat or else you provide the raw material your body will need to grow (if the training stimulus is there) which is not what you want. |

I agree, you will have to eat a lot in order to bulk up.
The zone diet does a great job of caloric maintennance. |

Thanks for the replies. It makes sense. Not having started any program, I wasn't sure what to expect.
The next step now is to just start doing it. Thanks everyone |

Like others have said, it's all about the kitchen. My legs are the same size they were when I squatted 200 fewer pounds.
