Sorry, but in my opinion, this guy's performance on Saturday has merited its own thread. Striking--awesome, takedowns--awesome, ground and pound--awesome, heart--unmatchable, badassedness--unfathomable.
I always liked this guy, but now he is my hero. Sure, he stands a good chance of getting his a** whipped in his next 3 contract fights, but he also stood a good chance of getting his a** whipped on Saturday. There is no one on this planet I would have rather seen finally chop down Big Sylvia. http://www.crossfit.com/discus/messages/21357/37655.jpg |

Randy will always be Captain America in my book!
"Hey Randy, did you see that new movie, 300?" -"I don't have to see it, John. I lived it." |

Don't forget he was an olympic medalist. He brought world class cardio, work ethic and pain tolorance to the fight.

Sorry Bobby. I forgot to say: Hey folks, that Bobby A. Smith sure is one smart fella. And loyal, too. Wow, what a guy. He was right. And we were doubters.
Hey, I feel better already! Thanks Bobby! |

He was not an Olympic medalist. He was a three time Olympic team alternate and a Pan-American champ.
This link will show you the majority of his accomplishments in wrestling - it's work and family safe, and the site (National Wrestling Hall of Fame) is actually a great source of info: http://www.wrestlinghalloffame.org/c...&wrestler=1783 If you look him up on Wikipedia there's tons of info as well. |

Yep only got to see it lastnight and the performance was ace, I was rooting for Randy. Pan Ameican, olympic medalist? makes no difference he schooled Sylvia big time, took him through 5 rounds of the most intense classes you can imagine and showed the world that at 43 he can still dominate.

Taking nothing at all away from Randy who is my hero. What I can't figure out is. Why did everyone think this was so shocking. I just never saw the "skillz" that everyone says Tim possessed. Just seemed to be a big lumbering slow guy who always looked off balance. (and who would kill me with 1 hand).
If anyone can shed some light on this let me know. |
