Biggest Dude Doing Crossfit

At 6ft 260lbs am I the biggest dude doing Crossfit? I never see any big dudes in WOD demos or coaching. I do wanna shed some fat and get down to 225. Were are all the tips for the power lifting types that do both?

Re: Biggest Dude Doing Crossfit

Firstly welcome to CF! Secondly, you are not the biggest guy doing CF. Not sure if he's the biggest but John Welbourne (sp?) is 310lb and is a CFer.. (he plays in the NFL). There are also many others that are big and strong... hopefully I will one day get there also considering im 6'4" haha (178lbs).
The response you are going to get from most of the people here are to just keep doing scaled, unless you can of course do it as r'xed, CF workouts and get your diet figured out. Most CFers suggest going zone or paleo which you can read more about in the Nutrition part of this forum.

Re: Biggest Dude Doing Crossfit

A year and a half ago I was 6' and 260, now I'm still 6' but am under 240. It was a combination of better life style, active living, smarter eating, martial arts, Crossfit and my girlfriend. Maybe another twenty pounds to go, we'll see as I don't monitor my weight as a measurement of health.

I don't scale the WODs in the past I did 1.5 hour workouts so i grind through. I start smilling every time I only gotta lift 95lbs. But stuff like burrpees kill me. The base FB league starts in 2 weeks, I can't wait.
I almost bought that Zone book today but i want the CD's so i can multitask.

Re: Biggest Dude Doing Crossfit

grinding through the WOD may not be the best way to do so. Try to get some intense, fast workouts. Most WOD's are fast and furious. That may involve some scaling to keep your pace fast.http://www.board.crossfit.com/images...es/running.gif

Re: Biggest Dude Doing Crossfit

this is a very good question.

Take for example, the filthy fifty.

Which is the best way to go-

a terrible 25 at max intensity but you cannot complete 50, in twenty something minutes

or decreased speed/intensity, getting to 50, but taking an hour

or with some of the lifts,
rx'd weight but less reps,
scaled weight but full rx'd reps

opinions vary

good point. I didn't look at it that way. The filthy took me a long time mostly because of those nee elbows and I was doing the jump pull-ups wrong and that broke me off.

You don't have to be big to hate Knees-to-Elbows. . . . that always takes me twice as long as any other element of the Filthy Fifties.

Re: Biggest Dude Doing Crossfit

Dominique,

I'm 6'0 and used to be 280#'s. Now Im at 215 # and 12-13 % BF. Keep up the intensity and the rest will come.

Intensity is in regards to Diet as well. Remember, 80% of your results are directly related to your diet.

My Diet...Paleo Zone + Diary
