24-Hour Fitness may not be the best
gym for our purposes, they might be basically FOR everything that we are against, HOWEVER, at $299 for two years (>$13 per month), maybe a local affiliate will offer something that you can use (i.e., pool, steam/sauna, other group classes). It may also make a great present for a parent or sibling that might need an ease-in period to get back in the gym?
Just throwing it out there. Seems like too good of a deal to not at least mention. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...rodid=11295243 (WFS) |

Re: 24-Hour Fitness may not be the best
I joined 24-HF under this program. I agree that they aren't the ideal CF gym, but they're good for many purposes, they're everywhere, and they're always open. I go late in the evenings to reduce the crowding. It costs about $12.50 per month with the Costco deal, which beats any other monthly membership I've seen anywhere.

Is that for any 24-hour or just your local?

The deal I got through Costco was for any club Sport level or below, nationwide. That excludes the Super-Sport clubs (of which there are 5 here in the Bay area) and the single Ultra-Sport club in the US, which I believe is in Los Angeles.

I got this deal as well and it works for me in Houston because I am in outside sales during the day and I go to school at night. There is generally a gym around so that I can go before school, gotta change that career. Also, we have a ultra here in Houston.

You can get almost any deal you want if you deal with the manager. Years back, I negotiated a deal for my husband - all clubs $99/year by paying for 3yrs up front for $700 (IIRC)

If my math is right, 3 yrs for $700 is a little over $230/yr, or a bit less than $20/month. Am I missing something?

![]() It was upfront for the 1st 3yrs, all future years were at $99/yr. When it's a lifestyle thing it's a good deal - until you move to a place with no 24Hr Fitness club. ![]() ![]() |

Re: 24-Hour Fitness may not be the best
Ah, this makes sense. Though even $20/month isn't bad.
Yes, I'd like to work out at a Crossfit gym, but at this point in my rehab I doubt I'd be able to keep up - and I haven't found a CF gym in the Bay area that's close to affordable for me at the moment. I think they're probably worth the money, but that's no help when it's more than you've got to budget for a gym. But I'm definitely shooting for a CF gym as soon as I can manage. Right now, 24-HF is the best bargain I've found for my situation. |

I'm curious, when did you get this "deal?" When I signed up for 24Hour, when I lived in LA, I did the same thing, $700 up front for the first 3 years, but now it's only $35 per year for life, and I didn't have to do any wheeling or dealing to get that, it was presented as the standard. |
