Snatch - Basic Rep Cycle
Finished the Quick and Classic cycle from Catalyst Athletics. The final day of maxes I had a great C&J at 212.5 and a not so great snatch at 145.
Started the Basic Rep Cycle yesterday with Snatching, Snatch pull and Pause Back squats. I recorded all my snatching, I'm hoping to capture as much of my lifting for my own purposes as well as getting input from others. Not terribly happy with my snatching in this video, felt all over the place. 5 sets of 3 reps at 102# https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jr44o-0J28 Link is WFS Thanks. |

Re: Snatch - Basic Rep Cycle
The big thing is that you're trying to jump before you've finished your pull. Keep your feet glued to the ground and think "stand up" until the bar is in your hips. Feel free to jump from there.
I also think you're starting hips a little high and pulling from the ground with your back more than your legs. Also just in terms of learning the lifts effectively, I wouldn't wear straps for the full lifts as a beginner. |

Re: Snatch - Basic Rep Cycle
Thanks Jeff, really appreciate the helpful feedback.
I've struggled with both those things for sometime but I haven't spent the time lifting consistently to fix them. I'll post another video later on in the cycle. |

Re: Snatch - Basic Rep Cycle
A good drill (obviously you're on a program so keep following it, but this is decent for recovery days or something) would be No Hands/No Feet snatches. No hook grip, and not allowed to move your feet. That'll force you to stand up fully and pull under instead of jumping up.

Re: Snatch - Basic Rep Cycle
Probably depends on what's comfortable. Is probably do pulling position the whole way since that's the part you are focusing on in the drill. Unless your pulling position is either really narrow or otherwise not a place you can do a stable squat from.
