How to increase bodyweight exercises numbers

So if I want to get more handstand pushups or more pullups; is there a certain protocol to follow or do I just do more volume of them and eventually they will just increase in numbers?

If you can already do them with a base number of say at least 2-3, it's pretty much doing them in some kind of volume/density format if that's your goal.

This can be X reps on the minute, pyramid ladders 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1, sets of ladders 1-2-3-4-5-rest awhile and start again. Sets till just before failure (3-5 or however many) with rest periods. GreaseTheGroove. Armstrong pullup program.

Or it be can X sets over a week. If your max was 10, it might be something like:

M-5x7 W 7x5 F 10-X-X

Increase the sets, add small increments of weight(ankles, vest, etc..), decrease time in between resting sets. Just have some sort of progression that is achievable and manageable(be conservative on your increases, I find they work better than larger jumps even when applied to weightlifting).
