Bumper Plate Quality?

Has anyone ordered bumper plates from therubberman.com? I am interested in what people have experienced with the quality and customer service. The plates have steel inserts and are .99 per pound. I am wanting a set of bumpers for my garage gym. Here is the link:

Sorry, couldn't figure out how to upload the image. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Re: Bumper Plate Quality?

I think those are the same bumper plates we have for our middle school kids. The 45's have held up just as good if not better than the Pro Maxima bumper plates.

Re: Bumper Plate Quality?

That's $.99 per pound BEFORE shipping. I'd recommend that you look at the price after shipping is added. That greatly changes things. For example, shipping a pair of 45s to Georgia more than doubles the total price once shipping is added.

Re: Bumper Plate Quality?

Good suggestion. To order 4-45, 2-35, 2-25,2-15,2-10 (350lbs) will cost $200 to ship to Washington. The total cost per lbs shipping included is $1.60/lb. My total including shipping and tax is $583.72. What do you think, a good deal? or any other suggestions? - Thanks

Re: Bumper Plate Quality?

I'd call Jason Hughes @ www.wrightexercise.com (WFS) first. I'm pretty sure he can beat $1.60/lb shipped easily. I definitely bought my bumpers for less than that shipped.

P.S. Don't bother with the 35s unless you REALLY want them. Get an extra pair of 25s and 10s instead. Trust me on this.

The price looks to be on par with other sites. Rogue Fitness, Again Faster, Wright Rubber, and Muscle Driver USA are stores that tend to cater to the CrossFit community.

I can't say anything bad about TheRubberMan, just good things about the other sites.

All links WFS.

I bought a pair of 25#'s from the rubberman 5 years ago. As of 5 years ago, they treated me well- fast shipping, reasonable price, and friendly service- I believe I talked with... Alf?

I believe that the Rubberman bumpers are made by Kraiburg.

I have a set of Hi-Temps from Rogue. Couldn't be happier. They're great quality and super durable. What else do you need from Bumpers? The steel inserts are in great shape too, even after 2+ years of abuse.

I also agree that the 35# plate isn't necessary unless you "want" it. I've got the (10/25/45) x 2 set. I just use my smaller weights to fill in when I need to step up in increments.
