I noticed by videoing I lift the weights no worries,but in some sets I'll catch it half way down, pause in the squat,then continue the descent.This throws my balance forward,putting pressure on all the wrong places.Any cues to remedy that flaw?

Guide the bar in across your shoulder then, elbows up pronto!

Assuming you're catching the bar in the right position racked across the clavicles and elbow up, check out your feet - are you bearing the weight on the balls of your feet and letting the heels rise? If so, focus on squatting through the heels (more correctly over the entire foot, and not just the balls of your feet)
