Interesting article on Beef...

For all of those out there on a budget like me...(given the economy) here is a decent article I found on cnn's website. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Re: Interesting article on Beef...

Looks like a pretty good primer on American beef. I'm surprised that only 75% is grain-fed.

The only thing that really stood out as poor information was this:

Quote:
A 3-ounce serving provides 27g to 30g of protein -- more than half of the 50g recommended daily in a 2,000-calorie-per-day diet.

Well, we all know that excessive meat consumption leads to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and obesity ...

Americans love beef; we eat nearly 63 pounds per person each year. Although that's a lot, the amount is down from our 1976 high of 89 pounds.
And yet soda and chip consumption has skyrocketed, turning our country into the playground of the obese and diabetic!

We should go back to 1976, we had it better then!

63 lbs a year? thats it. I just finished off 2 5 lb roast in 3 weeks. And that doesn't include the handful of burger I've had in that time

Re: Interesting article on Beef...

perhaps 63 pounds of each meat like cow, pig, and chicken. not really that much turkey. not sure if i eat that many eggs. maybe only half that of pig since I don't each much ribs and only pork carnitas.

let's see, 1 gallon of milk every 2-3 days is 120-180 gallons of milk per year.
