Clean form help

I am having a problem with cleans/power cleans, specifically the hip snap to catch. The problem I am having is that with traditional clean bar hold with the bar when I am standing as straight up as I can even with my shoulders shrugged as high as I can still lands mid thigh (this is thanks to abnormally long arms with a short torso), therefore the hip snap does little to nothing to get the bar in an upward trajectory. I end up having to do a shrug to high pull in order to get the bar up into the appropriate place to catch it. As such it is hard to do much of anything over #95 at my current fitness level. Does anyone have any suggestions how to make a hip snap work for this particular handicap? Thank you in advance.

Re: Clean form help

With out seeing it I am just throwing tips out.

First Im thinking you are early arm bending. So when it comes to the jump you lose upward momentum.

The Jump or "snap" as you call it should be upward not forward. Hips up not like KB swing. Jump UP!

Second your arms should not be bent at all from the ground first pull, through the second pull or jump. Arms should bent to pull you under the bar weather power or full clean.

I hope that gives you some to think on.

Re: Clean form help

Any feedback Richard?

Then we have a chance to help you out.

From your profile picture you look like any normal person with long*ish arms.
