Has anyone had experience in a city environment with running a facility out of a live/work studio. I've seen other set ups for friends of mine that are photographers, approx. 1500 sqft.

My guess is that it would be much cheaper than working out of a seperate light industrial space. I'm also wondering about the tax implications of writing off part of your living expenses under such an arrangement?

Yeah, I've been wondering about this one too, 'cuz getting started in NYC might not be cheap, though the thought of having people in my personal living space gives me pause.

It may work for some, and it sure would lower the overhead. However, if you do it count on the occasional stalker knowing where you live. Also, when you shut off the lights and lock the door to the gym people know it is time to leave. If it is your home you'll likely have to feign death once a week to get the some people to go home.
